Palaiochora is a coastal town and seat of the municipality of Kantanou-Selinos in the regional unit of Chania, Crete.
Its population is 1,675 people at the census of 2011. It belonged to the Province of Selino.
It is built on a small peninsula with a port at an altitude of 60 meters distance of 77 Kilometers from Chania town.
On both sides of the peninsula, there are beaches, one with pebbles in the east called Halikia or Votsala beach and one with sand in the west called Pachia Ammos, which is about one kilometre long.
Four kilometres east of Palaiochora, in Gialiskari, there are three more beaches, near the gorge that starts in the village of Anhydroi.
To the west are the beaches of Psilos Volakas, Plakaki and Karavopetra, near Grammeno, and at a small peninsula four kilometres east of Paleochora, there are several beaches.
Ten kilometres west is Krios Beach and even further west, about 18 kilometres, Elafonisi Beach.
